Following the great success of last year we are going to be holding the Bath to bristol skate again this year on Saturday 7th June. The format will be exactly the same as last year. You will need to sign up on the website. It costs £15 which is going towards the charity SusTrans this year. You will be able to start signing up in the next couple of weeks on this page and you will also be entitled to a T-shirt at the event when you register.
Sustrans is the UK's leading sustainable transport charity and they have done a lot of work around the country ensuring people have a safe path away from traffic with which to cycle or skate from A to B. They have recently been involved with a project to save the Bath - Bristol cycle track which is currently under threat and so we thought this would be an ideal opportunity to show our support and help promote green modes of transport.
The day will start at Bath Spa train station in a small car park behind the main entrance. If you have signed up you will need to register with us on the day in order to get your T-shirt and a map of the route. The skate will take aproximately 2-3 hours depending on your speed and how busy the path is. The vast majority of the journey is on smooth pavament through woods and fields but there are two parts which involve quiet back roads which do have a pavement. Most of the path is also (thank god) flat so you wont be expected to push up any mountains.
Upon arriving at Bristol Temple Meads, it is easy enough to catch one of the many trains back to Bath to collect your cars or further trains/busses to elsewhere.
Last year over 70 people turned out for this event and we raised a huge amount of money for Lowe Syndrome Trust. Lets try and make this year even bigger...
If you would like to raise even more money and have friends and family sponsor you, we have set up a secure web page which will donate the money straight to Sustrans themselves. Just follow this link: http://www.justgiving.com/bathbristolskate .

People should aim to get to the event for 10am on the 7th June and we will aim to start the skate at 10:30. Please bring your receipts as proof or purchase and be ready to have your names ticked off the list and collect your T-shirt. Unfortunately due to the size of this event we can not take individual shirt sizes into consideration, but we will try our best to have a reasonable range of sizes available.
