What to say about the legend that is Smooth Chicken... his accolades include organising the Toronto Board Meeting, teaching P-Swiss how to skate, and being one of the first skater owned longboard shops in the country.
Hometown:
They left me behind when we came to check out Earth 28 years ago....
Years skating:
I've been skating for 20 years, and longboarding for the last 13.
My favourite kind of skateboarding is:
My favourite things in the world is to mob a hill at top speed. Freeriding is cool, but it's a fad. Going fast will never go out of style.
Sponsors:
Lush, Sabre, Cult (you wicked guys in Bristol), Longboard Haven, Escarpment Surfers, Club 54.
Favourite Lush deck:
Fav deck is the Symbian/Symbian II and the Antuna. Have yet to setup a Freeryder though...
Current setup: Symbian 2/Sabre CF38's/Cult Risch's
Chosen terrain: Switzerland or a pool
Best event: KOZAKOV ROOOOOCKS!!!! Any skate event is generally a rad time though. The best is in between races.
Worst Injury: Blowing 3 tendons in my ankle in the beginning of 2011. 9+ months to heal. Not skating sucks. Aside from that would be scraping the skin off my palms before gloves were a thing. That sucked a lot.
Plans for the future:
Canada's first all skateboarding R&D lab. Skating some more mountains, and enjoying life. Not working, work sucks.
Describe your ideal day: Ideal day starts by waking up in a tent at the top of any swiss mountain rd. Coffee and a safety meeting before putting on leathers and riding the hill all day long. Finishing up with a bbq on the beach and bucket full of beers and possibly cracking open a bottle of moonshine at 3am.
Your Inner Skate Animal is:
I'm called Chicken, but I think my inner animal is more of an African swallow. Capable of carrying coconuts vast distances and such.
