Capslide

The (Knee)Cap slide is a neat variation on the standard Layback or Coleman. It involves rolling your feet and legs so that a knee touches the ground and takes some of your weight off the board. It can be a weird position to get in and out of cleanly and the first few attempts may lead to a few tweaked hips, but it’s a trick worth getting. For the best results, many people melt or glue sections of chopping board onto the sides of their knee pad so that it will slide rather than grip the road.

The Next Step: As the description hinted at, this is a gate way to a lot of different variations. You can lean the board onto the tail (layback) or the nose (Coleman). From there you can then grab the deck with your free hand…from there you can kick a foot off…from there you can whip it through a complete spin. Check out some of the Brazilian slide videos on youtube as these guys are super good at using their knees for crazy variations - here's some to be getting on with for now though...

Matt, layback cap manual slide

Dave, layback grabbed lifty-manual thing on a 44" mako slide - yowsers!

Nick, layback grab one foot manual (the one at the top of the page is the same but coleman, so off the nose instead of off the tail, using his front hand rather than his back)

Have fun and see what you can come up with - there's a whole load of different slides out of this one!
